The Weekly Protocol.

Your weekly update

This week I went reading about how period apps actually decide which day to mark as your ovulation day, and came out a little annoyed on everyone's behalf. The short version is below and the long version is on the blog. There is also a watermelon cooler.

on the blog this week

Researchers ran 73 cycle tracking apps against 768 women with daily hormone testing. The apps landed on the right day somewhere between a third and a half of the time, and that is not even the part that surprised me.

the weekly mocktail

Watermelon, Mint and Lime Cooler. Watermelon, lime and a little muddled mint, topped with sparkling water. No alcohol and no sugar, and it still feels like a proper drink. Watermelon is mostly water, and fluid is exactly what this phase runs on.

in our house this week

The Aarke carbonator. We swapped a plastic soda stream for this one with stainless steel bottles, and it earned its place by taking plastic out of our sparkling water. It also makes the mocktail above.

Also this week. If you want the wall calendar and the free spreadsheet I mention in the blog post, they are both sitting on the tracker.
